HackettHackett is an upmarket British menís clothing brand, which has branches around the world. It was originally founded by Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings, who first "bumped" into each other in Portobello Road, West London while looking for good second-hand traditional British menís clothing. In 1983, they opened the first shop under the "Hackett" name at New Kings Road in Parsonís Green, London. Hackett started their own line of clothing in the year 1985, which combined the traditions of British dress with a bold use of colour and pattern. The year 1986 saw Hackett opening a range of specialist clothing shops; one for shirts and ties, one for tailoring, a specialist formalwear shop, a barberís and gentlemenís accessories shop and a sportswear shop, all of which are within a hundred yards of each other, and the area is affectionately labelled as "Hackett Cross". 1987 saw Hackett getting involved in polo, which led to the beginning of the Hackett polo shirt. The same year, Hackett opened stores in Eastcheap, Bishopsgate and Holborn. The year 1988 saw Hackett adopt the chequer board advertising style and the strapline, "Essential British Kit". In 1992, Hackett opened its still current flagship store on Sloane Street, London SW1. 1993 saw Hackett become the first sponsor of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In 1995, Hackett launched its clothing line for kids. In 1997, Hackett signed a long term sponsorship deal with the England Rugby Team. In 2002, Hackett signed Jonny Wilkinson as its brand ambassador, while in 2005 Hackett became the official partner of the GT1 works Aston Martin Racing team. By the year 2006, Hackett had 29 shops across the UK, and also sponsored the London Rowing Club, the British Army Polo Team and the Rundle Cup. Hackettís menís clothing collection includes polo shirts, rugby shirts, jackets, shirts and tweeds. |
