Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton is a well-known brand of luxury French fashion and leather goods founded by Louis Vuitton himself, in 1854. Starting at the age of 16, he began designing with flat luggage for use on new railways, diverging from traditional iron hooped trunks used on horse-drawn coaches. He was approached by many luggage makers but he chose to bond a contract with Monsieur Marechal. He opened his first store named "Louis Vuitton Malletier a paris" in Paris, on Rue Nueve des Capucines. Later in 1860, he opened an entire factory in AsniËres-sur-Seine to meet the increasing demands of his leather items.

Today the company is owned by LVMH (Mo"t Hennessy Louis Vuitton), world’s largest luxury goods conglomerate, comprising around 60 sub-companies, and headed by Bernard Arnault, the CEO of Louis Vuitton. It is a much appreciated and famous brand of handbags and purses amongst Hollywood actresses like Uma Thurman, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Chloe Sevigny, Christina Ricci, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, and Naomi Campbell.

Since Louis Vuitton is a well-known brand making its position in accessory design alongside design-houses like Gucci, Prada, Fendi, and HermËs, it is highly imitated, and fake bags with its label are being sold in the market. It is found that only 1% of all the Louis Vuitton-branded items in circulation are considered authentic and the rest are fake ones that are complete replica of the real product.
