SocksSocks are knitted garments that are used to cover the feet. They are designed specifically to reduce the friction between the feet and the footwear, which may cause cracks and other problems. Socks are one of the best options to keep the feet warm during winters. Some people wear socks to prevent verrucas. The term "socks" also denotes the leather or other materials that cover the insoles. Half-socks denote that only a part of the insole is covered leaving the forepart visible. Socks are designed as per the wearerís foot size and the length of the leg that the wearer wants to cover. People prefer to wear socks that would cover the entire feet for the athlete shoes, boots or dress shoes. When the need of wearing socks arises in sandals; the user would like to wear open-toed socks. Some socks are worn indoors without shoes. Socks are made from different materials including cotton, wool, polypropylene or nylon. Though available in different colours, socks are preferred in white for sports and black for formal occasions.
