About Suit

A suit is primarily a men’s garment that is worn on formal or semi-formal occasions. Technically, the term "mens suits" (also sometimes "man suits") is used to refer to a set of garments that are stitched from the same cloth. The term suit follows from the French term suite, which implies "following", as in a suit, the trouser and the waistcoat are made from the same cloth as the jacket. There are many types of suits available; however, the most popular type of suit is the lounge suit that was first seen in England. Some of the other types of suits worn today are the morning suit and the dinner suit.Currently, suits are not worn daily, except for in some professions such as law and finance. Further, in some places it is rather common for senior executives of a company to adorn suits almost daily to work. However, generally suits are seen as special occasion wear and are worn during events such as weddings, funerals, and other more formal social events. In some countries, suits may also be a part of police or military uniform. Note that as suits are no longer considered daily wear, they are often viewed as being stuffy or uncomfortable; this perception is largely due to the fact that suits are made from high-quality and thick clothing. In comparison to casual wear, a suit, complete with a tie and belt is much more restrictive.Though suits were initially an item of men’s clothing only, women too have been wearing suits since the past few decades. Womens suits, also referred to as ladies suits, feature blouses in place of shirts, and generally lack neck ties. The term "wedding suits" is used to refer to three-piece or two-piece suits, which are specifically designed as wedding-wear for men. The wedding suits are quiet similar to "normal suits" when it comes to form, but usually are of a higher quality and have a more "special" and "design-full" appearance.Leisure suits were a major trend in the 1970s. Leisure suits comprise a shirt-like jacket and matching trousers. The leisure suits gained popularity with the increased sophistication of synthetic materials. Leisure suits are considered to be the perfect representative of 1970s men’s fashion. The 1970s was also a unique decade as far as womens suits are concerned: there was a trend of wearing floppy silk scarves that resembled floppy ascot ties. One can either purchase a suit or get it made from a tailor. All suits available in shops are mass products; in some cases, suits available in shops may be special limited edition products or one-of-a-kind items of clothing.Designer suits for both men and women are among the most expensive pieces of clothing. Suits from top-notch designers such as Paul Smith suits, Armani suits, etc are a major fashion statement and carry premium price tag. It is not uncommon to find used and thus cheap (at least relatively) mens and womens designer suits available for sale on many online trading sites. The term "tailor London" is colloquial and used to refer to tailors located in and around London.
