BachmannBachmann, an American model train manufacturer, started its journey in 1833 with Henry Carlisle as the founder. He made his humble beginning with hair combs made from horns, ivory and tortoise shell. Towards the end of the 19th century, Henry G. Bachmann took over with the intention of making toys for export across the globe. The company released its first train model, made by The Kader Company, in the mid-20th century for American markets. In 1984, The Kader Company took total control of Bachmann. Besides popular rail model that were made, equipment for other rail modeling companies were also manufactured. Branchline was the first range of rail model in introduced in the U.K., in 1989. The branch that was established with this line in Europe was named Bachmann Industries. It later purchased Lilliput. With many acquisitions and mergers in the 20th century, the company has made its mark amongst collectors and enthusiasts. Currently, the company sells more than 1.3 million train sets in the U.S. market. It has a fascinating range of real train-like models including OO scale British locomotives. The company also offers many other products such as tracks, locos as well as control equipment. Each year, the company strives to introduce a new model with new technology and advancement designs. For its 50th anniversary, the company introduced a series of Bachmann Blue Riband Range. The company also handles the distribution of many other brands such as Graham Farish 'N' Scale, Liliput HO and Hoe, Bachmann America, Bachmann China, Brassworks '0' and 1 Gauge unpainted brass and others as well. |
