Royal DoultonRoyal Doulton is a quintessentially English name associated with tableware and collectibles. The pedigree of the company dates back to 1815. Though the company specialised in stoneware bottles and sewer pipes at the beginning, it now offers a wide range of products including dinnerware, cooking products, giftware, china and glassware, collectables, jewellery and many more. The company has also added linens, curtains, lightings, etc. to complete its home dÈcor range. Royal Doulton has three sub-brands: Royal Doulton, Royal Albert and Minton. Under the Royal Doulton brand the company sells tableware and collectables made from bone china like Biltmore, and these have patterns such as underwater marble and gold trim. Bold and cotemporary style of bone chinaware are also sold under this label. Royal Albert, the sub-brand established in 1896 as "The Potteries", has taken the English country garden and the rose as its leitmotif. The product ranges from bone china tableware to boxed giftware, stationery and collectable teas. Words such as "floral", "femininity" and "fashion" can be related to the brand. Minton is one of the oldest sub-brands of the company. The brand originated in 1793 and gained success with an award winning art form Majolica at the Great Exhibition of 1851. The brand is more related to pottery and vibrant glaze. Doulton is a combination of all these three brands and is now a part of Waterford Wedgwood group. After the merger, the lifestyle product range extended to jewellery, personal accessories and more. |
