The Simpsons

The Simpsons are a fictitious animated family that has enjoyed considerable success on television over the years. They were conceived by Matt Groenig and introduced on the Tracey Ullman Show at the end of the 1980s. In December, 1989, James L. Brooks, the producer, along with Groening made ’The Simpsons’ into a half-hour show that was broadcasted on the Fox network.

The dysfunctional Simpsons family consist of the protagonist Homer Simpson, his wife Marge, and his children Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Homer is a clumsy, lazy, ever-hungry and insensitive man who works as a safety inspector in the local nuclear power plant. The voice support for this popular character was provided by Dan Castellaneta. His wife Marge is a smart, sensible and loving housewife who takes good care of the family. Their son Bart is very mischievous, while Lisa, their daughter, is more politically correct by nature. There are many other significant characters in this television show, like Ned Flanders, Smithers and Mr. Burns.

The fictional setting of this television show is the eventful city of Springfield. The plots are based on the problems and adventures of the Simpson family. The show is extremely humorous and highlights the funny aspects of everyday or extraordinary issues. Characters like Stephen Hawking and Ringo Starr have appeared on this show.
