Wallace and GromitWallace and Gromit are popular characters appearing in several animated short films and a full length feature film. These adorable characters were created by Nick Park. His animation company, Aardman Animations, created the two characters using Claymation. The characters were made using moulded plasticine modelling clay on metal armatures. Wallace and Gromit were brought to life with stop motion clay animation filming technique. The voiceover of Wallace was done by popular actor, Peter Sallis. Wallace is an inventor; however, the devices invented by him often fail to work. He is shown to be absent-minded person who loves to eat cheese and crackers. Wallace is accompanied by his loyal dog Gromit, a beagle. Gromit is more intelligent than his master and loves knitting, reading books and cooking. He does not talk but expresses himself by a way of facial expressions and body language. The popular duo first made their appearance in the short film, A Grand Day Out, in 1989. Wallace and Gromit appeared in the movie, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, in 2005. The movie won an Academy Award for the Best Animated Feature. One can buy Wallace and Gromit DVDs and enjoy their antics. Wallace and Gromit merchandise like cookie jars, alarm clocks, curtains, salt and pepper set, cuddly toys, games, books, watches and bags and many others are also available. All these products feature the famous pair of Wallace and Gromit. |
