WhiskyScotch whisky, one of the most popular alcoholic beverages ever, is distilled from a variety of fermented grain mash such as barley, malted barley, rye, malted rye, wheat and maize. Scotch whisky produced in Scotland is well-known all over the world as Scotch. The country is known to excel in making whisky; however, similar methods were adopted by other countries such as Japan in an attempt to achieve the same quality of whisky. They are referred as "whiskey" but they do not have a similar taste as that of the real scotch. There are three primary types of whiskies: malt, grain and blended. Grain whisky is the rare and is sold by only three brands, Cameron Brig, The Invergordon and Black Barrel. Most whiskies are single malt with single distillery. This type of whisky is mixed from many casks, which result in uniformity of flavour and colour. The label states the age of the whisky, the region in which it is manufactured and also mentions if it is a 'Single Malt Scotch Whisky'. Vatted malt whisky is a blend of up to six distilleries. Each malt is processed in a unique way to give a new or ideal taste to whisky. These are labelled as 'Pure Malt Whisky' or 'Fine Old Malt Whisky'. The single cask malt whisky, as the name suggests, is bottled from a single cask. The cask matures the whisky in different ways, depending on the number of times the whisky has been filled inside.. |
