Apple MacMacintosh, or sometimes Apple Mac, is a brand developed by Apple Inc. It deals with personal computers. These machines made by Apple Mac mostly cater to home, educational as well as innovative professional markets. The very first Macintosh computer known as "Macintosh 128K" or "the original Macintosh" was launched in January 1984. The command line interface, which was standard at that time, was not used for this computer; instead a graphical user interface (GUI) as well as mouse was used. All Apple Mac computers have preinstalled operating systems and, for the most part, are based on vertical integration. They can also run on other operating systems like Linux, FreeBSD, Windows, etc. The Intel Core 2 and Intel Xeon 5100 series microprocessors power the present range of Apple Macs. Also, the current Macs are powered by the graphical operating system known as "Mac OS X" (also known as "Tiger") and x86 processors. The current product line of Mac computers comprises Mac mini, iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro and Xserve. Brand new iMac and MacBook lines were launched around 2006, which were powered by the Core 2 Duo processor. Apple Mac computers and parts are available for sale on many online shopping and trading portals. |
