ATIKwok Yuen Ho, Benny Lau and Lee Ka Lau founded ATI or Array Technologies Incorporated in 1985. It was one of the leaders in the manufacture of computer hardware like graphic processing units, motherboard chipsets, video display cards or graphics cards. Advanced Micro Devices popularly known as AMD took over ATI in 2006 and the two companies were merged. However some of the products continued to be marketed under the ATI brand name. It designs and manufactures efficient, reliable and top of the line chipsets and video cards for desktop computers, laptop computers and gaming consoles. ATI graphics card with Maxtor hard disk is one of the preferred combinations for desktops that work on high-end graphical or 3D applications. They manufactured graphic cards for companies like IBM and Commodore. ATI later came out with EGA and VGA graphic cards in 1987. 1991 saw ATI release their first product that could process graphics without the CPU called the MACH8 and later introduced the Mach32, which had better memory bandwidth along with graphical user interface or GUI acceleration performance. In 1994 the MACH 64 accelerator was launched and it featured early techniques of video acceleration and powered graphics Xpression and Graphics Pro Turbo. The 3D Rage introduced by ATI was its first 2D and 3D accelerator. ATI created the All-inñWonder product line that was a blend of an integrated graphics chip and a TV Tuner card. The product allowed the display of computer graphics on the TV screen. ATI video cards or graphics cards provide high-end graphics and ultimate gaming experience. The video cards created by ATI offer gaming, digital home and business solutions. They also support Crossfire and Avivo thus setting a platform for multi-gaming and high definition viewing. ATI also entered into deals with companies like Intel and ASUS to manufacture onboard 3D graphics solutions for Intel’s Pentium M based Intel core and Intel Core 2 computer processors. The deal with Intel was immediately terminated once ATI was taken over by AMD. It has released a host of computer graphics chipsets some of which are Mach series, Rage series, Rage Mobility, Radeon series, Mobility Radeon, ATI Crossfire, Fire GL, Fire MV. ATI also launched a number of Chipsets and Platforms for Personal computers. Some of these products included IGP 3x0, Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP, 9100 IGP, Xpress 200/200P, Xpress 3200, AMD 580 X CrossFire chipset, 690 G, Xpress 1250 and the AMD chipset series.
