Dell ServerDell is an American manufacturer of computer hardware, founded by Michael Dell in 1984. The company is headquartered in Round Rock, Texas, and is known for its line of personal computers and Dell Servers. Dell markets it's servers as Dell PowerEdge. The Dell PowerEdge server range first appeared in 1996, and comes shipped with Intel Pentium, Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors. Dell PowerEdge servers offer a choice of three operating systems, Microsoft Windows, SUSE and Red Hat Linux, all of which come pre-installed. Dell PowerEdge servers are also available with no pre-installed operating system. Dell PowerEdge servers feature Dell OpenManage for integrated systems management, and are available as tower, rack-optimized, or blade servers. The current Dell PowerEdge range includes the SC440, SC1430, 840, 1900, 2900 and 6800 tower servers, the 1955 blade server and the SC1435, 860, 1950, 2950, 2900, 2970, 6850 and 6950 rack servers. In addition, Dell also markets it's server-related products under the Dell PowerVault name, which includes disk enclosures, disk arrays, tape drives, autoloaders, tape libraries, network attached storage and storage area networks. Some Dell Server PowerVault products are sold in partnership with EMC under the Dell/EMC brand.
