DVD BurnerA DVD burner is a device that is used to record videos onto blank writable DVD media. These burners are available as either standalone components to be used in home theatre systems or studios, or installable drives for PCs. The initial DVD recorders supported standards like DVD-RW, DVD-RAM and DVD+RW. The current drives generally support the + as well as ñ standards. DVD burners have a laser (typically 650 nm red) to read and write DVDs. The X value, with the base unit of 1.321 MB/s, is used to denote the recording speed of the DVD burner. The speed of writing is directly proportional to the strength of the laser. The reading laser is about 5 milliwatts (mW). DVD burners are today commonly found on almost all computer systems. DVD burners are also used for data backup as well as exchange and can handle CD-RW and CD-R media as well. Parallel ATA interfaces are present in many internal DVD drives. DVD burners as compared to VCRs are easier to handle and have higher audio and video quality. The user can have random access to video chapters without fast-forwarding or rewinding. They support high-quality digital copying and have improved editing as well as playlisting. DVD burners also feature onscreen multilingual subtitles and labelling. Internal and external DVD burners are available for sale on many online shopping portals. |
