Flat Screen MonitorA monitor simply refers to the display screen incorporated in any given compute, and can be of two types: cathode ray tube or TFT LCD. Initially, when it was invented, mointors had a sort of semi-circular screen that worked on Cathode Ray Tube or CRT technology. Over the years, the panel of the monitor came to be flat, though it still worked on CRT technology. These types of panels came to be known as flat screen monitors. With the advent of LCD technology, these CRT monitors, which had a huge box behind them, changed into thin frames, dispensing with the box of the CRT. Flat screen monitors, be they LCD or CRT, are available in different screen sizes. The screen is measured diagonally and mentioned in the specifications. The standard size of a flat screen monitor starts from 14 inches and the range can extend to 19 inches. Flat screen monitors beyond the range of 19 inches are also available, though they are rarer and more expensive. Flat screen monitor LCD screens are susceptible to scratches and fingerprints, making them blurry and hazy. Therefore special care is needed to keep them clean. For this purpose, soft cotton cloth would be preferable to a paper towel or rag. The cleaning solution should be applied to the rag rather than directly to the screen. |
