Hewlett Packard, popularly known as hp, is an information and technology company, based in Palo Alto, California. The company is known for its personal computers, notebooks, servers, printers, calculators, software and home media devices. Two Stanford University buddies, William (Bill) Hewlett and David (Dave) Packard, founded the company.

Hewlett Packard came into existence in a garage near Palo Alto. Bill and Dave were confused as to what they should name their company - Hewlett Packard or Packard Hewlett - so they decided to toss a coin. Eventually Dave won the toss but decided to name the company Hewlett Packard.

The high-speed printing era began in 1953, with Remington Ray designing a printer that ran on a ’Univac’ computer. Though by 1976 the inkjet computers were invented, they became a household item only with the invention of the hp deskjet printer in 1988. Today, hp produces some of the most technologically advanced printers in the world.

These hp printers can print directly from a CD or a DVD. The photosmart hp printers have memorycard and USB slots, along with Bluetooth compatibility. These features enable the photosmart to print directly from any type of a storage medium. Moreover, this hp printer has automatic red eye reduction, making it a part of a photographer’s kit.

The hp laserjet printers can print at a speed of 17 to 27 pages per minute. The first printed paper comes out within 8 seconds even when the laser printer is in power saver mode. These printers have input trays, which can carry up to 250 sheets. The hp laser printer has the automatic two side printing technology and can document up to 50 pages.

The deskjet hp printers are basically for home and small office use. These hp deskjet printers can print up to 16 pages per minute. When connected to a computer, hp deskjet printers can print web pages with the ’hp smart web’ technology.
