intelEstablished by Gordon E Moore and Robert Noyce who were later joined by Andy Grove, the Intel Corporation, one of the leading PC manufacturer, was founded on the 18th day of July 1968 and was known as Integrated Electronics from which the name Intel was derived. Intel is also the world’s biggest semi conductor company and the inventor of the x86 brand of Microprocessor, which makes up an integral part of almost all personal computers. Founded in Santa Carla in the United State of America this company is also the leading manufacturer of motherboards, chipsets, network cards, IC’s, graphic chips, embedded processors and a host of other computer related appliances. With a sharp focus on research and development Intel has managed to combine the capability of improved and advanced manufacturing with chip designing. Intel created its first microprocessor way back in 1971, however it was launched along with personal computer and since then there was no looking back for Intel, as far as microprocessors were concerned. Besides Intel was known as one of the first developers of SRAM and DRAM computer chips. The Intel Inside Campaign is one of the most successful Ad campaigns, which further popularised the brand. Intel’s Celeron brand was a part of the X86 CPUs and was aimed at budget personal computers. The Celeron offers fewer features as opposed to higher priced CPUs from Intel. It was launched in April 1998 and Celeron CPUs were developed along the lines of the Intel Pentium II core. This was followed by the Intel’s single core X86 microprocessor, which was a part of the Pentium brand and was developed using P5 micro architecture. Vinod Dham is often regarded as the father of Intel’s Pentium brand. It was launched on the 22nd day of March 1993 and was followed by its different generations like Pentium Pro, Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium 4 and Pentium D. Pentium 4 is Intel’s range of single Core central processing units or CPUs used in laptops, computers. This line was released on 20th day of November 2000 and was developed using NetBurst technology. These Intel Processors featured a deep instruction pipeline for amazingly high clock speeds and many other features. The Pentium line Intel CPUs had SSE2 and SSE3 instruction sets that sped up calculations, transactions, media processing, 3D graphics and gaming capabilities. It also had Hyper Threading feature that enabled a single physical CPU function as two logical and virtual CPUs. Intel later released the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors and was created along the lines of Intel Core micro architecture. This brand was launched on the 27th day of July 2006 and was made up of Solo, which was a single Core Processor, the Duo a dual Core Processor, the Quad with a Quad Core Processor and the Extreme with a dual or quad core CPU. The core micro architecture equipped the CPU with amazing features like better decoding stages, execution units, caches and bus which greatly reduced the power utilised by Intel Duo CPUs while simultaneously increasing their efficiency. At Intel every product is a result of the latest technological advancements and innovations, which is a sign of quality. |
