Apple iPodApple i Pod is a brand of portable media players that was unveiled on 23 October, 2001. Apple i Pod is designed and marketed by Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs declared it as a Mac-compatible product having a 5 GB hard drive that could play 1000 songs. Apple designed the software of i Pod with the help of companies like PortalPlayer and Pixo. Devices in the iPod range include Apple i Pod nano, the Apple i Pod shuffle and the fifth generation i Pod. The i Pod can play music in MP3, AAC/M4A, Audible audiobook, WAV, Protected AAC, AIFF and Apple Lossless audio file formats. The i Pod photo has the ability to display images in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF and PNG image file formats. Fifth generation iPods can play movies in MPEG-4 and QuickTime formats. i Pods with colour displays have five buttons, namely Menu, Centre, Play/Pause, Skip forward/Fast forward and Skip backwards/Fast reverse. They also use anti-aliased graphics and text with sliding animations. Their click wheel is used for scrolling through menu items and controlling the volume. While most i Pods have a 32 MB RAM, the fifth generation 60 and 80 GB i Pods have 64 MB RAM. iTunes, which is a digital media player application by Apple, supports copying music to the iPod. |
