Bose Ltd. is a company that manufactures electronic items like stereo systems, speakers, home entertainment centres, headphones and other accessories for both professional and domestic use. The company started in 1964 when its founder, Dr. Amar G. Bose, a professor in electrical engineering discovered that a stereo system he had purchased lacked good speakers. As a result, Bose conducted extensive research in speaker technology and psychoacoustics (how humans perceive sound) and came up with unique designs that not only provided optimum sound performance, but also allowed live music to provide an emotional impact on its listeners. He eventually introduced the 901 DIRECT/REFLECTING speaker system in 1968 which gained international success because of its realistic sound production.

Years of trusted research by the company in sound technology led to the development of acoustic waveguide speaker technology, present in itís award winning WAVE radio, WAVE radio/CD, ACOUSTIC WAVE music system and WAVE music system.
