DenonDenon is a globally reputed Japanese manufacturer of audio equipment. Founded in 1939, the company name was a combination of Denki Onkyo, a firm that was merged with Nippon Columbia. Using state-of-the-art technology, the company products integrate superior performance with durability. The company started with manufacturing turntables and cartridge tape recorders for the local broadcasting stations. Denon got its first breakthrough with the release of DP-5000, a direct-drive phono-motor. In 1972, Denon launched the world’s first 8-channel digital recorder, the DN-023R, followed in 1981, by the first professional CD player, the DN-3000FE and a year later by the first consumer CD player. With a commitment to research and development, the company has many firsts to its credit. In 1992, the ALPHA Processing technology was introduced that interpolated 16-bit CD data to 20 bits, enabling a seamless audio rendition with proximity to analogue waveform. In 1993, the twin-deck DJ CD player, the DN-2000F, entered mainstream use in various nightclubs. The Professional broadcast mini disc recorder, launched by Denon in 1994, was also widely used in radio stations across the globe. The world’s first Dolby Digital/THX 5.1 speaker system was released in 1996 by Denon with matching 2 and 3 channel power amplifiers. A year later, the world’s first music DVD was released, again by Denon. The twenty-first century started for Denon with the launch of the mini 5.1 A/V system. Most of the Denon products can be classified into three categories. Audio visual components include DVD players, amplifiers and A/V speakers. Hi-Fi components include CD recorders, receivers, tuners, cartridges and headphones. Mini and micro components include the DAB series and other full fledged music systems. |
