Plasma TelevisionPlasma television is considered a must-have among the tech-savvy or people who demand the best equipment for their entertainment. This flat panel display screen is composed of two glass panes with numerous tiny cells sandwiched between them. These tiny cells hold inert gases like neon or xenon, which heat up and emit light when an electrical charge is passed through the cells. This makes for faster and brighter flat panel display technologies, although plasma screens generate more heat in the process. The plasma display was first developed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1964. Donald L. Bitzer, Robert Willson and H. Gene Slottow, then students of this university, invented it. There are several advantages of owning a plasma television. A plasma television, being a flat screen display, can be accommodated anywhere easily. It is extremely light-weight and compact. These plasma televisions are available in a wide variety of deigns and sizes. The sizes start from 35 inches and go up to nearly 80 inches. The display and sound quality is extremely superior. Plasma television screens support up to 16.77 million colours, along with HDTV signals. These TVs provide minimum distortion, absolutely no glare and remove unwanted dull spots. They offer consistent screen brightness that ensures that the eyes are not affected. Some plasmas can also be connected to computers for playing video games and for making PowerPoint presentations as well. Many companies like Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Hitachi and many more make plasma TVs. Special plasma TV stands are available for mounting plasmas. |
