Embossing BoardIn embossing, a three dimensional image is created on a board’s surface. This board is known as an embossing board. For the image to be created, the right combination of heat and pressure is required. Also required is a metal die, and a counter die that fits perfectly together. Both the metal die and the counter die compress the fibres of the substratum of the embossing board. The combination of pressure and heat, irons and defines the impression, and at the same time raises the level of the impression above the substratum. Some embossing boards are packed with an assortment of features making delightful keepsake items. Their decorative grids let one create many patterns on cards. Grids go beyond just decorative grids as they contain a complete alphabet and numbers from one to ten. There’s more in the form of a monogram holder that let’s you emboss a person’s initials. Some embossing boards also have the ability to change into a lovely scroll maker that can be used on cards. Multipurpose boards can change yet again and are used for lovely long bows. It changes once again to play the role of a card borderer. And if this isn’t enough, also integrated into some embossing boards is the spanking new concept in box making, which doesn’t require one to turn the card around four times. The card can be made to take a box shape without taking the card off the board. |
