Embossing Powder

Embossing is a type of art where an interesting pattern, design or image is embossed on a base material. It can be done on materials like paper, metal, fabric, leather, or wood. The image or design that is embossed on the material is a three-dimensional representation. Generally, embossing is achieved by the process of combining heat and pressure. There are a number of techniques used for embossing. It can be achieved by hand held tools, die or roller. Embossing powders are popularly used to successfully accomplish the task of embossing. These embossing powders are available in different colours and textures. They come in variations of opaque, transparent, translucent, glitter and metallic compositions. Heat guns, ink pads and rubber stamps are needed while using the embossing powder. The rubber stamps are inked with the ink pads and are placed on the required material. Later, the embossing powder is spread over the stamped image. The heat gun is then used over the image to melt the embossing powder. Once the powder melts, the process is considered complete. Embossing powder techniques are perfect for creating cards and other creative craft items. Scented embossing powders are also quite popular among crafters.
