PensPens are writing instruments that write on a surface (usually paper) by applying ink to it. Pens are extensively used in writing, and there are also some types of pens specifically meant for use in crafts, colouring, etc. Usually in crafts and colouring, fibre or felt-tipped pens, like marker pens or highlighters, are used. The first felt-tipped pen was invented in Japan by Yukio Horie of the Tokyo Stationery Company. A felt-tipped pen features a tip which is porous in nature and comes with its own ink source. The marker pen is a derivation of the felt-tip pen and is widely used in colour-sketching, drawing and other such arts and crafts. Markers used for crafting are generally found with medium sized tips. There are some other types of markers which are specifically designed for use on surfaces other than paper like glass, whiteboards. Marker pens are remarkably different from highlighters, which are pens that are used to highlight certain sections or words of a document. Since highlighters are used to "highlight", they come with translucent inks and in vivid colours, so that the highlighting attracts attention retaining the readability of the content. Highlighters come in bright fluorescent colours like yellow, pink, blue, green, orange, and purple. |
