Sindy

Probably no other childhood accessory has as much influence on a growing girl as a doll. She can pamper the doll, dress it up, talk to it, share all her secrets; thus offering some respite to the mother. Sindy is a doll created by Pedigree Soft Toys Limited. Born in 1963, this ’always young’ doll is capable of smoothly taking on varied characters. Besides providing the kid hours of fun, the doll can also be a good learning tool. While dressing up the doll with the garbs of various professions, the girl starts to learn more about them.

It is a scientifically proven fact that playing with dolls has the potential to build up a mentally well balanced child. Some dolls can be mock fed, their clothing changed and even bathed, thus arousing the maternal instincts in the kid; something which would come in handy later. Additionally, Sindy dolls may be blondes, brunettes or have black hair and they may also wear outfits from different countries. This will educate youngsters about the different cultures and how the attire varies in different geographical regions. All Sindy dolls have been painted in such a way that the eyes are always facing towards the right.

A year after being released, the Sindy doll was provided with a boyfriend Paul, who at 13 inches was an inch taller. In the late sixties and early seventies, the Sindy doll’s body was made more flexible with the neck-head connection being a ball socket. A bunch of friends for Sindy were also introduced. The material used in the construction of the doll is mostly non-toxic and is thus safe for the kids to play with.
