American PiePopular teen comedy movie, American Pie, was launched in 1999 with Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz as chief directors. Written by Adam Herz, American Pie enumerates the adventures of four boys who intend losing their virginity before their graduation from high school. It's title is a derivation from a scene where Jim Levenstein is caught performing sexual intercourse with a dish containing apple pie; he was misinformed about copulation that felt just like warm apple pie. It's unprecedented success spawned two sequels: American Pie 2 (2001) and American Wedding (2003). The second of the trilogy, American Pie 2, follows the lives of the four boys from the first movie. These boys reunite at the end of their first year in college and the onset of their summer vacations. This sequel was released in 2001 with James B. Rogers as it's director and Adam Herz and David H. Steinberg as it's authors. Adam Herz also provided its characterisation and screenplay. In this movie, Jim Levenstein and Michelle Flaherty blossom their relationship further, promulgating their marriage; their impending marriage forms the base for the third movie from the trilogy ñ ’American Pie 3 : The Wedding’. American Pie 3: The Wedding debuted in theatres world-wide in 2003 with Adam Herz as it's writer and Jesse Dylan as the director. The movie continues to depict the adventures of the four friends during the marriage of Jim Levenstein and Michelle Flaherty. This movie, like its preceding editions, involved depiction of and humourous references to sex and sexuality. The series has led to 3 spin-off movies, which are not sequels to the trilogy; American Pie Presents: Band Camp, American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile and American Pie Presents: Beta House. Beta House is poised for launch by end of 2007. |
