Back To The FutureLaunched in 1985, ’Back to the Future’ paved the way for two more sequels that presented the adventures (or rather misadventures) of teenager Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox ) and mad scientist Doctor Emmett L. Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd). The science fictionñcomedy film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and was backed by Steven Spielberg as its chief producer. Its story depicts the unfortunate duo sent thirty years back in time using a De Lorean time machine created by Doctor Brown. Marty McFly, inadvertenly lands up messing his (then young) parents’ courtship resulting in the end of their relationship. According to laws of science, for his own existence they necessarily need to get together and, of course, get married. What ensues are his attempts at getting both back together and fall in love, once again. The movie’s success led to the production of two more sequels ñ Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Back to the Future Part III (1990). The entire trilogy was launched as a special set titled ’Back to the Future: The Complete Trilogy’ by Universal Studios Home Entertainment on December 17, 2002. The set is available on DVD and VHS tapes. Moreover, an animated series, Back to the Future: The Animated Series was produced and aired by CBS TV. A couple of similar comic books were printed and launched by Harvey Comics. A simulator ride based on the movie’s theme is located in Universal Studios Theme Park. |
