Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica refers to a series of science fiction films and television shows. The actual movie, Battlestar Galactica, was released in 1978. The concept of this movie has inspired novels, video games, books and comics. This science-based saga unfolds in the Seventh Millennia in a faraway galaxy. The Twelve Colonies of Kobol are inhabited by a civilisation of humans. These colonies have been at loggerheads with the Cylons, a cybernetic race. The colonies have been misled by the Cylons. While the colonies are in the process of negotiation, the humans are attacked by the Cylons leading to a mass destruction and a piling up of waste across the land. Battlestar Galactica is the only military ship to have withstood the attack so the survivors, under the guidance of military leader Commander Adama, are led on a mission of space search for the mythical world called Earth.

The first series of episodes based on the movie released eight months after the release of the movie. A new series of episodes began in 2004 which assumed a different tone and style. This series featured seasoned actors like Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell. The season 2 of the series started with the Episode, ’Scattered’ on 15th July 2005. The Battlestar Galactica Season 3 premiered on 6th October, 2006. The fourth season of the series is slated to be launched in 2008.
