Bewitched

"Bewitched" is both a hit television series and a movie based on the same theme. The television series is a comedy show based on supernatural and fantasy themes that aired on the ABC network in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The TV Show starred a lovable witch, Samantha Stephens, played by Elizabeth Montgomery. Most of the Bewitched episodes dealt with the various hilarious happenings in the Stephens household, between Samantha and her ’non-magical’ husband, Darrin, played by Dick York.

Most of Samantha’s family members, including her mother, Endora, are not in favour of her union with Darrin. Darrin leads a very staid existence and his businesslike boss, Larry Tate, played by David White, appears in a number of episodes. Aunt Clara is the only member of Samantha’s family who is relatively on good terms with Darrin. The popularity of the show can be seen from the fact that TV Guide recently nominated Bewitched as being the fiftieth greatest television programme of all time.

In 2005, the Bewitched movie was released from Columbia Pictures. In the Bewitched movie, the role of the witch Isabel Bigelow was played by Nicole Kidman, with her stage husband Jack’s role being played by Will Ferrell, a struggling actor. The film directed by Nora Ephron depicts how Isabel’s surging popularity makes Jack jealous. Nowadays, DVD’s of both the TV series and the movie are available as well as games based on the series.
