Blakes 7

Blakes 7 is a British science fiction television series created by Terry Nation and produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation. The popularity of the program resulted in the series being made for four seasons from 1978 to 1981. The plot of Blakes 7 is set in the future where the earth and other planets are controlled by the totalitarian Terran Federation. The lead character of the series is Roj Blake, played by Gareth Thomas, who is deported to a penal colony on a remote planet on false charges. He escapes from the prison with aid from fellow prisoners, and claims control on an alien starship to wage war against the forces of the Federation.

The series became a hit soon after its launch and is considered one of the best science-fiction series owing to its strong characterisation, moral ambiguity and surprise ending. Over the years, the show has influenced several science fiction series including Farscape, Aeon Flux, Babylon 5, and Hyperdrive. Till date, the Blake season one, two, three and four have been released. The show is scheduled to be released as a series of original audio adventures sometime in 2007.
