Brokeback Mountain bagged three Academy awards in 2006 under ’Best Achievement in Directing’, ’Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures’ ’Best Writing’ categories. The movie was directed by Ang Lee and produced by Diana Ossana and James Schamus. Screenplay of the movie was written by the duo Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana that was inspired by the short story of the same name authored by Annie Proulx. Under the distribution rights of Focus Features, Brokeback Mountain was released in the United Kingdom on 6 January, 2006. The movie received rave reviews from critics across the world. Brokeback Mountain won a total of 71 awards due to its interesting storyline and execution style. This movie was shot at Canadian Rockies in southern Alberta, Canada.

Brokeback Mountain cast includes Heath Ledger, Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams and Randy Quaid, among others. The movie revolves around two cowboys who meet for the first time in 1963 on a ranch in Wyoming mountains. On this ranch, they unexpectedly fall in love with each other. They part ways after a brief period on the Wyoming mountains but find it difficult to forget each other. They continue their relationship; however, they try to hide their relationship from the world; courtesy their fear of marriage and society taboo. Brokeback Mountain DVDs are available since 24 April, 2006. It will also be released on Blu-ray Disc in the United Kingdom. Brokeback Mountain soundtrack is also quite popular.
