Dads ArmyDads Army is awell-known British situational comedy television series. The series first aired on 31 July, 1968 on the television channel, BBC. Dad’s Army revolved around the Home Guard units of World War II. The series was created by the duo, Jimmy Perry and David Croft. It continued airing till 13 November, 1977 with a total of 80 episodes. Dads Army featured some of the best British television, movies and theatre actors. Cast included actors like Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, Arnold Ridley, Ian Lavender, James Beck, Clive Dunn and others. The series was based in the seaside town of Walmington-on-Sea, where the Home Guard were based at the front line across the English Channel to fight off the enemies. Even today, the series is popular and Dad’s Army DVDs are available for the fans. Dad’s Army 8 Series and Dads Army Series 9 are quite in demand. The success of the series led to the making of the movie Dads Army. This movie was released on 12th March, 1971. Dad’s Army movie was produced by John R. Sloan and directed by Norman Cohen. The movie revolved around the formation of the Home Guard units and their activities during the training exercise. The Dads Army stage shows were enacted from 1975. The television series were also converted to radio series on the BBC Radio 4. The Dad’s Army radio series are available on CDs for its fans.
