Moto GP"Moto GP", or Grand Prix motorcycle racing, is a type of motorcycle racing series, wherein the motorcycles used by the competing teams are purpose-built for the race. As such, they cannot be driven legally on the road and are not available for sale to the general public. The race championship comprises of three classes, the 125 cc, 250 cc and MotoGP. Considered by many to be the motorcycle equivalent of Formula One, Moto GP motorcycles often make use of expensive and advanced material like titanium and carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic, and advanced technologies like telemetry, engine management systems, traction control, carbon disk brakes and pneumatic valve actuation system. The 125 cc class motorcycles in Moto GP are one-cylinder machines with a minimum weight of 80 kg, while the 250 cc class motorcycles in Moto GP are two-cylinder machines with a minimum weight of 120 kg. For the 2007 Season, the highest class in Moto GP, the MotoGP class motorcycles are allowed to have a maximum engine displacement of 800 cc, however there is no restriction on the number of engine cylinders. The minimum weight criteria for Moto GP motorcycles is dependant on the number of cylinders.
