Pre CertThe term "pre cert" is a colloquial expression and is largely used to refer to "pre-certification" or "pre-certified" film DVDs, VHS tapes, VCDs, etc. that feature the actual (original) film as and how it was made, without any editing those movies had gone through to meet the certification standards. Pre-certified films can be found on sale on many online shopping portals, and does not necessarily imply that these movies are sub-standard in any nature, though some of them might be. "Pre cert" films may also include classic and sometimes iconic movies like JAWS, Psycho, Enter the Dragon, The Thief of Baghdad, Scarlet and The Black, Herbie goes to Monte Carlo, King Kong, etc. and may feature stars like Bruce Lee, Gregory Peck, and others. Such movies are essentially "non-edited" versions that differ from what is finally released and often contain excessive blood, violence, gore, sex, scenes etc. Some "pre cert" movies however are movies which have "Restricted 18" or "18" ratings and may contain pornographic, sex-horror, sexual-violence scenes or excessive profanity in script. Such movies may or may not have been released in theatres, and some of them might have been "refused certification" by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), though this is extremely rare. |
