X FilesThe X Files is a popular science fiction television drama series which has acquired a cult status. The series produced by the American screenwriter Chris Carter is the winner of various prestigious awards like the Emmy Award and the Peabody Award. The show was aired for the first time on the American FOX network in 1993. The X Files gained exceptional popularity with many of its slogans like "The Truth is Out There", "Trust No One" and "I Want to Believe" becoming popular public sayings. The series is based around the two central characters who are FBI agents, investigating the X Files which deal with marginalized cases. The two FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully have been played by Davy Duchovny and Gillian Anderson respectively. The series was novel in its treatment of the story wherein a continual serial drama was mixed with individual stories. The theme of this science fiction revolved around a parliamentary conspiracy regarding the extraterrestrial creatures interwoven with stand-alone chapters. These stand alone episodes often dealt with paranormal concepts. X Files has been telecasted in various countries across the world. The original series on American FOX network ended in 2002. However, its immense popularity has resulted in the release of X Files DVDs and X Files episode guides in the market. In fact, a complete DVD set of the X Files series is available. An X Files movie was also released in 1998 which became an international hit. |
