Acqua Di ParmaPerfume Acqua Di Parma’s heritage dates back over a century. The famous perfume was born at a modest perfume factory in Parma, in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. This fragrance gained its highest popularity between the 1930s and the 1950s, when it became the preferred choice of many Hollywood stars, like Cary Grant, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and Audrey Hepburn. Introduced in 1916, Perfume Acqua Di Parma effectively ousted the many German perfume brands that dominated the market then. Within fifteen years, its demand grew so much that manufacturers stepped up production. Later on, various brands challenged the perfume’s reigning position. However, Acqua Di Parma made a decisive comeback in the 1990s, when three prominent players on the Italian luxury goods scene resurrected it on the market. The first Acqua Di Parma boutique at Milan’s exclusive Via del Gesu followed in 1998, leading to countless similar boutiques all over the world. In September 2001, the luxury goods company LVMH partially acquired the Acqua Di Parma brand, finally buying it completely in 2003. A groundbreaking development on the international perfume market, this acquisition gave the historic Acqua Di Parma a new lease on life. Alternatively described as glamorous, chic, elegant and fresh, it is no wonder that Acqua Di Parma has never gone out of fashion. Its essential citrus fruit essence is extremely enduring and subject to much plagiarism. However, no other brand seems to have come close to copying this classic fragrance with a uniquely contemporary freshness. |
