Burny

Burny guitars are manufactured by Fernandes Guitars Company, which was started in 1969 in Japan. The company manufactures different guitars like acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers and accessories. It is the biggest guitar manufacturing company in Japan. The Fernandes Guitars Company makes starter models for amateur guitarists. It also makes custom made guitars for professional guitarists. However, the company is most known for making the replicas of Gibson guitars under the name Burny. In the early 70s, the company started making Burny guitars.

In the past, the company did not face any copyright issues from Gibson guitar manufacturers. It was only in the mid 80s that the Gibson manufacturers were threatened by the Burny replicas circulating in the market. Thus, Fernandes decided to make changes in the design of Burny guitars with the truss rod cover and shape. The famous Les Paul (LP) models of Gibson guitars were known as Super Grade under the Burny name. These guitars were similar to the LP models.

Burny guitars are known to have a great pick up, besides superior quality. Some of the Burny guitars were equipped with VH-1 pickups, which have an extraordinary tone. The higher end Burny models are equipped with fret edge binding and a thin polyurethane finish. The latest manufactured Burny guitar models have serial numbers. These also have palace-shape and 3 screws truss rod covers.
