EsteeBorn Josephine Esther Mentzer, Estee Lauder together with her husband Joseph Lauder founded the Estee Lauder Companies, a revolutionary cosmetics company. Estee was the only woman who was featured in the Times Magazine’s 20 most influential business magnates of the world. The company was started in 1946, New York City, New York. The first range of beauty products consisted of only 4 items and within two years they opened their first store with ’Saks Fifth Avenue’. After going international in 1960, the company established a store in Harrods, London later followed by a store in Hong Kong. Aramis Inc., producing male grooming products, was established in 1964. Estee Lauder was named as one of ten "Outstanding Women in Business" in the US, followed by a "Spirit of Achievement Award". The company expanded further by opening "Clinique Inc.", the first cosmetic brand that was guided by a skin specialist, tested for allergies and was non fragrant. Estee Lauder opened a second line of men’s products in 1976, becoming the first women’s cosmetic company to do so. Estee Lauder products are now available the world over, besides having its own chain of retail outlets. The brand is endorsed by stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Liz Hurley, and Carolyn Murphy Liya Kebede. The company has 18 brands, all of which are used to raise funds for the "Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign" and more than $ 10million have been raised since 1999. Estee Lauder crossed the 1 billion mark in 2003 and is still one of the leading cosmetics company in the world selling products like estee lauder perfumes, cosmetics, makeups, besides other skincare products. |
