Human Hair ExtensionsSince ancient times, the fashionable have experimented with hair styles and hair accessories. With the passage of time, the use of wigs and hats has now made way for the use of human hair extensions. Human hair extensions, which were once only for the wealthy, are now commonly used by all. Human hair extensions are made from strands of human hair which can be attached by different modes of applications. There are essentially two main methods: permanent and temporary. The permanent method includes fusing 20 to 50 strands of human extension hairs with natural hair, using a protein adhesive. The process is simplified with the use of clear plastic templates for segregating the hair. The extension hairs are best removed at a beauty parlour. Pre-tipped extension hair is also available in which the human hair extension has a protein adhesive on one end which, on melting, fuses with the natural hair. Mini links are also used; these consist of pliers which lock in the hair and a special needle through which the hair is passed for attaching beads. Human hair extensions may also be attached to the hair while making cornrows. Bonding or wefts are similar to clip-ins minus the clips. They are attached by gluing to the natural hair. |
