Trellis

A trellis is a frame structure that is made of thin strips of wood, bamboo, metal or plastic. This permanent frame is used for supporting climbing plants. Trellises are generally used in gardens, although they can also be placed indoors. Sometimes trellises are used to add height to a wall or simply as extensions of a fence. A wooden trellis made of teak or cedar weathers with time to provide an organic look to the garden. The earliest trellises were seen in the garden frescoes of Pompeii and Herculaneum. They were used to create seclusion or to support fragranced creepers and flowers or even support a vineyard.

Trellises are available in various kinds of shapes and sizes, with the popular ones having a curved top.
