CoroCoro is one of the most popular jewellery manufacturers of the twentieth century. Their costume jewelleries of the early 1900s are still in demand and sold as vintage jewellery items today. Interestingly, they sold jewellery under more than one name. Coro, being just one of them, CoroCraft, Pegasus and Vendome were the others. However, they could be quickly recognised with the "CR" marking on them. After the World War I the jewellery with higher quality were marked with "Coro Craft". It changed to a single word "Corocraft" after the World War II. The unique collection of jewellery items included duettes, brooches, tremblers, door knockers and crown pins. Unfortunately, they closed their business in 1979; however, it continued to operate in Canada. With a close observation of the entire range of jewellery produced by the company, one would be able to conclude that most of their designs are inspired by nature such as flower, insects, birds, human figures, etc. Jewellery pieces were adorned with stones (rhinestone, cabochon, amethyst and crystal), mother of pearl, coral, glass, cameo carvings, artificial pearl, etc. They also offered sets of earring, necklace, brooches and bracelet or the combination of two of them. Their intricate carving and detailed work was known across European countries. |
