DimondDiamond, often misspelt as dimond, is a precious stone made from allotrope of carbon and is the third-hardest natural material available on earth; therefore is used in many industrial applications. It is popularly used in jewellery items such as necklaces, rings, earring, brooches, bracelets, etc. The ultimate sparkle that is generated by its facets lends the jewellery a beautiful look. It is a priced possession, which is contemporarily available in different shapes other than round, square and taper. The price of dimond depends upon the four Cs: cut, carat, clarity and colour. The term ’cut’ refers to the finish, proportion of table (or the top flat portion of a diamond) and griddle/facets, symmetry as well as polish. This is the main factor contributing to the brilliance and sparkle of the diamond. Dimonds are measured in carats. Higher the carats more will be the price demanded. In fact, a single one carat diamond would demand higher price than many small diamonds, when put together to make one carat assuming other three factors are same. Clarity is next in the list. It is the purity of the dimond ñ how many flaws does a diamond have. A flawless diamond is indicated with the letter ’F’. The price also depends on whether the diamond has internal or external impurity. Colour, is next most important factor in deciding the price of diamond. It describes the colour that diamond naturally possesses. White coloured diamonds are considered to be most expensive, where as light yellow diamonds are the cheapest. |
