EbelEbel is a Swiss watch-making company founded in 1911 by Eugene Blum and Alice Levy. The company launched its first wristwatch in 1912, and won the Gold Medal at the Swiss National Exhibition in Bern in 1914. In 1925, Ebel won the Grand Prize at the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The year 1929 saw the entry of Charles-Eugene Blum, the founders’ son into the company. In 1935, Ebel became the first watch-making company to introduce the "Western Electric" precision and quality control standards. During World War II, Ebel was the official supplier of watches for the British Army. In 1964, the company won the Grand Prize at the Swiss National Exhibition in Lausanne for its "Lune Etoilee". In 1970, Pierre-Alain Blum, Charles’ son joined the company. Ebel launched its highly popular Sport Classic line in 1977. 1983 saw the launch of the Perpetual Calender Chronograph. In 1985, Ebel launched the Beluga line of watches, which are made exclusively in gold. In 1993, Ebel launched the Sportwave line (watches for which the company is most known); and in 1995 Ebel launched the Ebel Automatic Chronograph Calender. In 2002, Ebel expanded the Beluga range, with the introduction of the Beluga Tonneau line. The year 2005 saw major expansion of the Ebel watch range with introduction of the 139 caliber Ebellissimo Collection and the all-new Ebel Classic and 1911 lines. IN 2006, Ebel launched the Brasilia line. |
