Mystic TopazTopaz is a precious stone in jewellery design. It comes in different colours including yellow, green, blue, pink, white and grey. The purest form of topaz is transparent, but when tinted with impurities it is usually yellow or wine-coloured. When yellow topaz is exposed to heat it turns reddish pink, but when irradiated it changes to light-blue. This gemstone is mainly found in the Ural and Ilmen mountains, Afghanistan, Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Pakistan, Italy, Sweden, Japan, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. Pink and blue topazes are the most purchased gems and are most commonly used in jewellery. Topazes are considered as November birthstones. Besides jewellery, topazes also feature in watches and other accessories. Today, jewellers manufacture topazes that emanate iridescent colours. This involves the process of physical vapour deposition that deposits a thin layer of titanium oxide on the stone. Such topazes are called Mystic Fire Topazes or simply Mystic Topazes. In the late 1990s, a company called Azotic Coatings patented the name ’Mystic Topaz’. Of late, Mystic Topaz jewellery has been gaining increasing popularity. The glittering gemstone is commonly featured in earrings and finger rings. Mystic Topaz engagement rings are popular choices. Mystic topaz pedants of various shapes and sizes are also in high demand. |
