6630When Nokia launched the Nokia 6630, it aimed at displacing the position held by many high-end PDAs and palmtops. Amazingly, the model was quite successful at Nokia’s endeavour of providing the business class as well as entrepreneurs, a device that featured PDA capabilities and phone functionalities into a single package. The phone is based on the Series 60 series 2 platform developed by Nokia and functions using the Symbian operating system. Launched in November 2004, the Nokia 6630 is a successor to the existing Nokia 6600 and 6620 ’smartphones’. This tri-band handset supports 900-, 1800- and 1900- MHz GSM networks as well as 2100 MHz W-CDMA standard. Its inbuilt compliance with EDGE transfer protocols allows for high-speed internet access of speeds up to 236.8 kbps. That is bound to make surfing a much pleasurable experience than ever before. To aid internet surfing, the phone features a full-fledged functional email client that supports POP3 as well as SMTP internet transfer protocols for sending and receiving emails while you are on the move.It also features a basic browser with a simple, intuitive interface that supports browsing HTTP websites as well as WAP ones. It also comes preloaded with a Microsoft Office file viewer that allows reading Word, Excel and Powerpoint files. Last but not the least, it also supports playback of MP3 and AAC files encoded at full quality (44.1 kHz, 16 bits, stereo). Additional features include a 1.3-megapixel camera that records video clips of 176◊144 pixels resolution, using H.263 video compression, Bluetooth and a 176◊208 pixel 65,000-color TFT LCD. |
