iPhoneThe iPhone is a mobile phone launched by the technology major, Apple. With multimedia, Internet access and digital camera features, this device is promoted by the company as more than just a phone. The upcoming release of this phone was officially announced by Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, at the Macworld Conference and Expo in January 2007. The phone is scheduled to be available in the US by June 2007, with distribution in Europe and Japan a littler later. The idea for the iPhone came about when Jobs deputed the company engineers to tap the potential of touch screen technology and also integrate multiple features into a single gadget. This phone is a quad band GSM phone with touch screen access for almost all its functionalities. To make a call, all the user needs to do is touch the personís name or number listed in the address book on the touch sensitive display screen. A facility to group the frequently used numbers together and also make simultaneous conference calls is one of the interesting features inbuilt in the iPhone. The iPhone can synchronize with the contact list from a PC, Mac or even the Internet. Additionally, visual voicemail allows the user to listen to the same in any chosen order. The QWERTY keyboard allows convenient typing of SMSs or names to the address book. The user can capture any sight that catches his/her fancy with the 2-megapixel camera and photo management software incorporated in the phone. The wonders of the Internet could not be missed in this handy gadget with email, web browsing, map downloading and versatile search facilities. A widescreen iPod in the iPhone will be a real treat for the music lovers. |
