Motorola is one of the largest communication equipment manufacturing companies in the world and is based in Schaumburg, Illinois, United States. The company was founded in 1928 as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation; the "Motorola" name was adopted in 1947. Traditionally, most of Motorolla’s products have been radio-related and the company has a long history of manufacturing radio equipment for diverse communication needs. The Six Sigma quality system was developed at Motorola by engineer Bill Smith, under the direction of Bob Galvin (son of founder Paul Galvin). In terms of revenue, Mobile Devices Division is the largest division of Motorola Corporation in terms of revenue.
