The Nokia 5300 XpressMusic has a 2GB microSD card that holds over 100 albums worth of music (approximately 1500 tracks). Moreover with keys that are especially dedicated for music navigation, users can easily control the playback music and simultaneously work on other functions such as writing messages, browsing or taking pictures. With the 3.5mm headset jack on the phone, users can plug in their favourite headphones or external speakers. One can also transfer albums and pictures from the phone to the PC via a standard micro USB connector.

The Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W allows the user to sync their music collection wirelessly to any compatible stereo. The phone supports music formats like WMA, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+ and MP3. The phone also features a 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom and video ring tones, which can enhance the incoming calls on a high resolution display. This slid phone has pre-installed games like Snake III (3D), Pro Snowboard (3D) and applications such as Music Guess, world time, Nokia Sensor and Converter II.

The phone also has other common attributes such as messaging, contact organising and detailing, push-to-talk, organiser, Infrared, Bluetooth, gallery and settings for ringtone, volume, display etc. The device is inbuilt with Nokia OS and can work on GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. The display resolution is 240 x 320; whereas the colour depth is 18 bits. The phone also supports data network such as EGPRS, GPRS, HSCSD and CSD.
