Nokia announced the launch of the 5500 in May, 2006. This phone supports GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 network and has a sleek dimension of 107 x 45 x 18 mm, weighing only 103 g. The Nokia 5500 TFT screen displays pictures in 256K colours with 208 x 208 pixels resolution that clearly displays the photographs or videos captured by the 2MP integrated camera. The Nokia 5500 phone has been specially designed for sports enthusiasts; therefore, it is dust and splash resistance.
