Siemens mobile phones are manufactured by a German company, Siemens AG, which is one of the largest manufacturers of consumer electronic products. Siemens is credited with launching the first mobile phone with colour display, the Siemens S10. It was released in 1997 with the ability to display four different colours. The first slider phone from Siemens, Siemens SL10 gained huge popularity among youngsters for its sleek design. Continuing with its effort to produce innovative mobile phones, Siemens SL45 was launched in the market in 2000. This phone was among the first mobile phone in the world to have MP3 player and support for external memory.

In 2005, Siemens old exclusive rights of the mobile phone subsidiary for a period of five years to BenQ. BenQ is an Asian manufacturer of consumer electronics. Currently Siemens mobile phones are available under the brand name BenQ- Siemens. Some of the newer products under the new brand name are Siemens-BenQ EF81, Siemens-BenQ E81, Siemens-BenQ S81 featuring 3G capabilities. A31, A38, C72, Cf110 and CL71 are some of the Siemens-BenQ GSM models.
