Access Virus

Access Virus is a brand of a German virtual analogue synthesizer that was introduced in 1997. Every two years, the product range is upgraded and new models are introduced. The Access Virus is DSP-powered and has classic analogue-style oscillators, which can be continuously tuned from a pure sine wave to a square wave. Hypersaw and Wavetable oscillators are two oscillators added with the existing TI series. The Access Virus features various types of analogue styles, digital distortion and filter saturation. The Virus range features two independent resonant filters that can be combined in numerous modes to produce unique sounds and sound effects. This is the only synthesizer that can be fully integrated with a computer-based audio workstation as a VST or AU plugin.

Access Virus has three hardware versions and a number of features added by means of firmware operating system updates. All Access Virus synthesizers use a single Motorola DSP chip and produce sound quite indistinguishable between models. The Virus TI, the latest version, uses 2 DSP chips. It represents the most important technical advancement among the Virus synthesizer series. The Virus A and TI have similar basic Virus analogue modelled oscillators, but the Virus TI differs in terms of the number of voices available, additional Hypersaw oscillator and digital wavetable oscillators.
